About the Role
The Security Assistant (Field Security Assistant) will report to the Senior Security Associate at the Quetta Field Office. The position involves ensuring that WFP’s staff and assets remain protected while facilitating the safe and effective delivery of humanitarian assistance.
You will be responsible for assisting in the planning, monitoring, and coordination of security operations in Quetta and surrounding areas, ensuring compliance with WFP and United Nations Security Management System (UNSMS) standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and analyze security threats and trends affecting WFP operations.
- Collect and report on security incidents, ensuring timely and accurate information sharing.
- Liaise with local authorities, UN agencies, NGOs, and security personnel to maintain safe operational environments.
- Support and track staff movements during field missions to ensure safety compliance.
- Conduct field security assessments and produce detailed reports with mitigation recommendations.
- Assist in the formulation and implementation of security risk management strategies.
- Maintain and manage security equipment, ensuring proper functioning and timely updates.
- Oversee and enforce access control and visitor management procedures.
- Update and maintain emergency and contingency plans for crisis preparedness.
- Conduct regular visits to warehouses and operational sites to ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Prepare and submit mandatory reports, including incident summaries, risk assessments, and staff tracking data.
- Provide briefings to new staff on local security procedures and risk management practices.
Qualifications & Experience
Education:
- A first-level university degree in Peace and Conflict Studies, Business Administration, Economics, Psychology, International Relations, Commercial Law, or a related discipline with a focus on security management is an advantage.
- A Bachelor’s Degree from a Police Academy or Military College is highly desirable.
- Alternatively, completion of secondary education with a post-secondary certificate in security management or a related field is required.
Experience:
- Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in security operations, risk management, or related areas.
- Experience in working with law enforcement, military, or humanitarian organizations will be an asset.
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong understanding of security risk analysis and incident reporting.
- Excellent coordination and communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with multiple stakeholders.
- Technical knowledge in managing and maintaining security equipment.
- Proficiency in using information management tools and software.
- Sound judgment, discretion, and integrity.
